Paganini Foods LLC
Paganini Foods has made a rapid start following its initial entry into the United States in August 2002. Already, this food company which imports fine fruits and vegetables from Italy and the Mediterranean has achieved success with shipments of Italia (Muscat) and Red Globe varieties of table grapes, kiwi fruit, blood oranges and radicchio targeted for produce re-sellers in the Northeast region of the United States. Now Paganini Foods is launching its second season of Mediterranean produce imports under a new umbrella brand – “BellaVita.”

The Mission
The mission of Paganini Foods, created by Swiss-Italian businessman Celso Paganini, is to offer American consumers “the best of the best” in Mediterranean produce from top Italian suppliers. Backed by the Paganini family’s 100-year experience in the produce market and Celso Paganini’s 25 dedicated years in the industry, the BellaVita brand will introduce thousands of Americans to fruits and vegetables with a Mediterranean “accent” – a distinct taste that no other produce can match.

Launch Products
For BellaVita’s launch season, the product lineup will include table grapes, kiwi, blood oranges, radicchio and broccoli, and the company’s sales channels will be extended to include major supermarket chains and independent wholesalers. Recent changes in shipping methods (ocean and air), quality standards and communications allow Paganini Foods to offer competitive pricing against domestic produce suppliers and against other import companies.

Future Plans
Longer-term plans include produce imports from other regions of the Mediterranean and extensions of the BellaVita brand’s geographic reach beyond the Northeast region of the United States.
Currently, the list of produce approved for import from Italy into the United States is limited, despite Italy’s position as the world’s largest producer of kiwi, table grapes, peaches, nectarines and many other produce specialties. Paganini Foods is working with the Italian Ministry of Agriculture to submit additional fruits and vegetables for approval, such as figs, pears, eggplant and cherries.
